The first installment of a two part series showing the creation of my painting, “Fuck It!”.
Video Link: www.youtube.com/watch
The juxtaposition of the Hindu God Ganesha, hyper sexual fetish imagery and the wings of an angel, the piece erupted out of an intense experience I had five six months ago involving my day job, my personal life and the resolution the followed.
If you watch the video, do let me know what you think. I consider my art videos a part of the fished art I create—allowing an opportunity to experience my creations, along side me, as they’re undertaken.
Hope you enjoy,
J.D. Lenzen

Re: Fuck It! – Making P-32
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 3:37 AMNice to watch someone work, but here's a few questions for you to feed on...
Why paint in the end when you do so much prep work on a computer?
Couldn't you produce them as posters?
What is it about the object as a painting that is so important to you? -

Re: Fuck It! – Making P-32
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 9:09 AMMy process begins with a drawing. I then scan and color the image electronically so I can play with color choices without wasting paint. (smile)
From there I could transfer my line work into Illustrator (and occasionally do) to render a completed, 2-D, reproducible (e.g. poster or t-shirt quality) image. However, I enjoy the process and the impact my work has on me and on others when it’s additionally represented on canvas in painted form.
If my art were music, Photoshop and Illustrator would constitute my studio work and canvas and paint my live performances. -
